LOS ANGELES (AP) Jarome Iginla created effective scoring chances even when he sat in the penalty box.

Iginla scored a goal in each period to lead the Calgary Flames to a 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.

The Flames captain completed his first hat trick of the season, and ninth of his NHL career, with a shot from the right circle that got past Kings goalie Jonathan Quick with 4:07 left in the game. It was Iginla's 11th goal in nine games.

NEW YORK (AP) Nathan Horton, Jordan Leopold and Steven Reinprecht scored goals and Tomas Vokoun made 32 saves as the streaking Florida Panthers beat the slumping New York Rangers 3-2 on Saturday night.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) The Vancouver Canucks have cleared room for the return of high-scoring forward Daniel Sedin by sending forward Matt Pettinger to their AHL affiliate on Saturday.
